Mathematical Models Lesson Study

All learners develop their understanding of mathematics by incorporating new experiences into their current set of tools for explaining the things that they have already experienced.  In this project we will explore the use of "models" in the development of mathematical understanding and mathematical instruction.

Can you tell if that is a linear function or not?   It sure looks linear to me!

Mathematical Modeling

Mathematical modeling is a process that takes a phenomena from the real world (observations) and creates an abstract representation of that phenomena (mathematical representation).  This representation is used to explain, predict, or describe the original phenomena.  The representation is then compared to the observations and the model refined as needed.
