This presentation will share the results of the Louisiana state-funded professional development project called "Motivating Mathematics through Models (M3)." The project served thirty mathematics teachers of grades 6-10 from the greater New Orleans metropolitan area, utilizing a lesson study approach to professional development. As part of this approach, the participants carefully analyzed the work of a small cohort of their students and used that work to inform their lesson study efforts.
